This little owl only about 2.5 inches tall. I originally using free pattern from Graduation Owl by Homemade Zen, but the pattern called for a separate top half and bottom half. I'm too lazy and just carry on with different color yarn and closing up at the bottom of the owl using reverse pattern.

Also the wings and eyes for my owl using slightly different than the pattern.

Eyes (make 2):
magic loop in white.
Row 1: ch3, 11 dc in loop. Join with a sl st to top of ch3.
Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Add a black brad or button to center of eye.

Wings (make 2):
magic loop in soft pink, 6 sc
2 sc in each sc, make 12 sc
chain 2 at the end and casting off.

I might make more owl in the near future. Some of the pattern I want to try are in Spanish, Dutch and Russian. My sister-in-law also sent me a drawing of an owl pattern from some Japanese magazine that I will try to decode later.

Thank you sukigirl for posting her pattern for free. Please keep it free!

So here it looked like before I put them together.

Black Yarn using Craft Smart Value
White Yarn using Red Heart Super Saver
Orange Yarn using Vanna's Choice Lion Brand Terracotta

My revisions to the pattern:
  1. Since my black and white yarn seems thicker than the orange, the finished muzzle according to the pattern is a bit bigger than the head, so I modify the muzzle into half of what the pattern calls for.
  2. Since my son said that the arms looked too big with the original version of the pattern, which called for the same size as the legs, so I modify the arms into a smaller size (20 SC around).
  3. I add more stitches on the side for the belly band, so it looked a bit rounder on the side.

I followed this pattern in between my free time and decided that my owl also need a scarf to complete its looks. Of course now he looks like a snowman with flippers. Note to self: next, make a few snowman with colorful attributes.

My very first attempt at amigurumi. I found the pattern book from Michaels for $4.20 and some cotton yarns for $1.99 plus crochet hook and needles for $1.49 each, some beads for the eyes since they don't carry safety eyes. I seat on my craft table and took me a day to do this. Only after I tried to sew the wings that I realized that it's inside out. Oh well... I confess I always lose my counts most of the time. I guess, I should buy those ring markers, because I always lose my yarn marker along the way somehow :(

This is the book which I used for the pattern
